Hi,
Bartenders in Brussels and in Belgium is REALLY late in flair skills, material and others,
but are world wide known as good workers.
Some Belgians have to leave the country to get some proper courses or flair bottles.
A bit like the LP's in the mid 70's.
In 1998 I began on my own and met some other novice barmen with whom we created
one of the first Brussels Flair Teams, called it the Crazy Shaker.
My first event was for Douwe Egberts at Couleur Café,
that's where I met Michael from the Shake Company, a Team from Antwerp.
They were (and still are) ahead of us.
I've learned and worked with them for about 3 years,
When I left, I began running my own event organisation and academy
with the help of Raphaël first, then Pierre and the financial help of my father.
After a couple of months, I had to stop because I needed fast money to pay my dad back
and other reasons I don't want to bother you with.
So I worked in a couple of bars where I had, nor time to run my business properly,
nor time to really practice my flair and teach it to others.
Now, 6 years later, I'm back on the tracks with more time for my training.
I still have my foldable bar, glasses and all.
In not even in 4 weeks, more than 30 people are willing to follow courses, and more are to come.
Flair Bartending is being more and more wanted in bars and events.
I fact, I would love to be the first Belgian FBA ambassadors,
so I've send them a mail with all the questions about it.
Let's all cross our fingers...
We use a Non profit making organisation called Smart, which helps artists to grow up their business.
My best regards.
Medwin
